Resolutions are for Wimps!

start of a brand new year and the start of people making promises to themselves. have you made any promises to yourself? i'm not really the type to make resolutions, but i suppose by vocalising your intentions to other people you are more likely to accomplish them.

according to answers.com a resolution is:

  1. The state or quality of being resolute; firm determination.
  2. A resolving to do something.
  3. A course of action determined or decided on.
  4. ...

all too often we hear that most resolutions that are made on the 1st of the year are broken the very next day on the 2nd. how resolute are people when they are resolving their resolutions? if you give up a couple of days into the new year you obviously weren't very resolved, were you now?

instead of thinking: resolutions, think: goals.
set goals for yourself, be they short term, mid term or long term goals. if they are long term goals, and i mean way off in the future long term, you could break that down in to a series of smaller goals designed to step-stone your way to the larger goal.

examples of goals you can use:
i will carry a flashlight on my person at all times.
i will replace more bulbs at home with energy saving versions.
i will get another torch for my collection.
etc...

my own goals this year? well when i blog tagged 5 other people i learned that Johan had done a 5 day water fast. after being fascinated and doing a little reading i will do a water fast this year too.
also, i plan to scare myself a little more too. Bulbgirl suggested that i should hire someone to attack me when i least expect it, just like Cato from the pink panther movies.

...not really the kind of scaring myself i had in mind.

Glad to see that you're a "goals" kind of guy also ;)

Alive and kicking Johan.
First thing I drank was orange juice and it was pretty damn good. :)
It really does give you a different take on food.
